About the IT Department
We operate and develop IT services to support the scientific productivity of the Institute.
What does the IT Department do?
- IT services for the whole institute.
- IT support to people at the AEI.
- develop new IT services that are of general benefit to the whole institute.
- bespoke IT work funded from other sources (e.g. a Division/Group grant or cost centre).
How do I get a new IT Service developed or a substantial piece of IT work done?
For example a new website or a new IT storage service.
- If the request can be met using our current IT services infrastructure, no problem.
- If we need to do a few days work to produce something new to benefit quite a few people, this will likely get done.
- If the request is a bigger-ask and would benefit the whole institute, then the request can go into our
IT planning process (
stakeholder feedback, user feedback, maybe a Directors discussion, Head of IT input) and possibly get done in the future.
Our IT plan is published for members of the AEI to view, if they wish.
I want to sell IT services/equipment to you : for suppliers
In general if we need to purchase services or equipment we will actively seek suppliers and follow the correct MPG procedures for procurement.
If you represent a supplier and wish to contact the IT department then it is strongly recommended that you first read this website and
identify how your organisation can help/support ours (prepare an "elevator pitch").
